Core Engineer
Join our Core team!
Description
The Igalia’s Core team is responsible for a variety of tasks related to operating systems and their ecosystems. From virtualization to init systems, from low-level debugging to scripting, we’ve been touching a lot of layers with an upstream-first focus.
We value flexible people who get inspired by working on complex topics and enjoy solving problems on their own, and who are proficient in English and believe in open communication. Part of the job consists in communicating clearly and effectively in community discussions and similar forums. We also value Free and Open Source Software experience and upstream contributions. Projects carried out by the team make use of a diverse number of interpreted and compiled languages, such as C, C++, shell script, Python, and similar languages. Debugging code written in any of these is a very appreciated skill.
Sandboxing, build systems, cross compilers, Yocto: if these terms are familiar to you, you are likely a potential fit for our team. Having experience in Linux distribution maintenance or embedded devices bring-up/tinkering is also a plus. Being able to debug kernel issues stands out as well. If you have most of the experience and skills mentioned and are into remote work, please consider applying for our Core team position!
