Joanmarie is the maintainer and primary developer of the Orca screen reader for GNU/Linux and contributes to the accessibility implementations of software, toolkits, and web engines.

Joanmarie served as co-chair of the W3C’s ARIA Working Group (2017-2021) and editor of several of its specifications (2015-2021).

When she is not working, Joanmarie enjoys vegetarian cooking and baking, perusing the OED, and taking pictures of her cats.
